Mahabharata Mountain The Mahabharat mountain range stretches through the northern part of Gaindakot. This mountain spreads over 60% area of Gaindakot. The heighest peak of the mountain range is about 3050 meter from the sea level. The highest peak of the mountain in Gaindakot is about 800m.
The southern slope of mountain is mainly covered with dense sub tropical forest despite of few cases of human encroachment while the northern slope is sparcely populated. This forest is home to large number of wild lives and vegetations which include rare animals like leopards.
Many creeks originate from this mountain whose water is potable and suitable for irrigation.

The mountain's natural beauty and wild lives are in stake due to human encroachment and deforestation which causes soil erosion, bush fires and other other natural disasters.

Some aware people have taken initiatives to lessen the impact by enforcing laws and providing vigilance against animal & timber poaching, illegal enrocachment and so on.
